In honor of my 5-year wedding anniversary on October 15th I 'm going to take you on a stroll down memory lane...sharing some details from my big day.
Long before I started Brass Paperclip, I had a passion for designing invitations. These were some of my earliest designs...and definitely the most labor intensive!
I had two goals in mind when I started designing our save-the-dates:
1. Set the tone of the event
2. Convey a lot of travel information
The resulting design was a little booklet that was mailed in a kraft box full of dried rose petals. We chose chocolate brown (for my husband's love of chocolate) and rose red (is there anything more romantic than red roses??) for our colors and decided to use red roses exclusively in our flower arrangements.
The rose petals were a great, natural filler that really helped to set the tone for our event. Imagine receiving a tiny box in the mail and then opening it to find a shower of rose petals...it was exactly the feeling of whimsy, romance and specialness that we were going for.
This is the monogram I designed for our wedding stationery. I printed and heat-embossed these so the ink wouldn't smear on the vellum. Notice the great rose printed paper peeking out from behind the vellum. I used this paper a lot for DIY details throughout the wedding.
The interior of the booklets had pages for the actual Save-The-Date, a greeting, weekend itinerary, travel info and accommodations. I repeated the rose paper on the inside of the front cover.
How great are these rose petals?? One even looks like a heart! I found these online at FlyBoy Naturals. They are eco-friendly and five years later, still look as fresh as when I bought them. The website also has lots of other types of flower petals and tons of colors of roses. You can purchase small sample bags, which is what I did to find the perfect color match. Later, I mixed all the sample colors together and used them to decorate the cake table at the wedding. Can't say enough good things about the product or the service. Mwah! Thank you Fly Boy!!
That's all for now...Formal Invitations to Come...
