One of my biggest thrills as a designer is when my brides share their wedding photos. As you can imagine, I was beyond excited to receive these photos from Kristen. Kristen first contacted me back in December about creating custom invitations for her laid-back island wedding. She and her now-husband, Jeff, are both boaters, so they were looking to incorporate a nautical-boating theme with ropes or knots. Their breezy color palate of coral, aqua and yellow was a fun twist on the traditional nautical colors of red, navy and gold.
As we worked together to design this invitation suite, the original plan to incorporate knots was dropped in favor of a silhouette of Block Island where the couple was getting married. The silhouette was later incorporated into other design details throughout the wedding.
For Kristen and Jeff, the wedding was truly a family affair. Kristen's twin sister flew in to be maid of honor. Her oldest brother was ordained online so he could officiate for the ceremony. The couple's dog was even on-hand as "Best Pet" and shadowed the couple throughout the day. Particularly meaningful for Kristen was when her father, who had a stroke 6 years ago, was able to walk her down the aisle and twirl her around the dance floor for a very special father-daughter dance.
One of my favorite design details of the wedding was the guest book, which was a collection of corks that Jeff had been collecting for years. They were arranged and left out for guests to sign. Now the corks are on display in the couple's home and are a sentimental reminder of their magical day.
I hope you enjoyed these photos as much as I did and hopefully found some inspiration. I'll leave with you a quote from Kristen that still makes me smile...
"I still can't thank you enough for all your hard work. I have the invite framed in my bedroom and love looking at it. It's amazing how a piece of paper can evoke this amazing feeling. It really encompassed everything we wanted our wedding to be and I get to look at it everyday and be reminded of it."
Thank you, Kristen and Jeff, for giving me the opportunity to work with you during such a special time in your lives. It was a pleasure and an honor to be a part of it. XOXO, Cindi
