EcoEtsy is a great eco-minded "street team" that I belong to. I love the group b/c they are supportive, creative and oh so talented. Plus, the group mission is very much in line with my own business and life philosophies. One of the great things about the team, aside from the amazing people, is the team blog that is updated several times each week. It is chock-full of eco-tips, tutorials and articles all written by team members.
One of my favorite blog features is the weekly theme challenge. The theme changes weekly and the idea is to do a "teamecoetsy" search on Etsy to find items that represent the theme. I love to search through team members' shops to see what they've been making and this is a great way to find things I might not otherwise find. After all of the nominations have been submitted, the winner is announced on the blog on Tuesday.
I usually end up "heart-ing" a bunch of things during my theme search, so, I am going to make this a regular post on my blog to share some love with my teammates and feature my picks for each week's theme challenge.
The theme this week is in honor of the Chinese New Year and The Year of the Tiger. I wasn't sure how to search for this theme so I did a wiki-search to learn more about the attributes of the Tiger. Here are my picks based on those attributes:
Fixed Element = WOOD:

Tiger Eye and Wood Bracelet from TwilightVision
Gemstone = DIAMOND:
Shiny Diamonds Reusable Tote from fashiongreentbags
Colors = GREEN, RED:
China Red Record Bowl from EyePopArt
Brass and Jade Green Necklace from Enthral
Elemental Sign for 2010-2011 = METAL:
EcoBoot chains w/Tiger Eye from GreenBelts
Be sure to click on the photos to visit each item's Etsy listing for more information about these eco-friendly picks. And if you like these items, you'll probably find more to love in these members' shops.
And don't forget to follow @EcoEtsy on Twitter or subscribe to the blog to find out who wins this week's challenge!!
XOXO
Cindi

How cool! What a great way to expand the theme. Thanks so much for nominating my boot chains. :)

I'm actually glad to see all this stuff, to see that this world offers creativity and ideas other than what my lonesome small town provides.
